Joseph Ball was educated in law. In the War of 1812, Joseph was an Ensign in Captain Hurst's Company of the 37th Regiment. He was a lay deputy for a VA convention of protestant episcopal churches, 1813. Joseph moved from Northumberland Co., VA to Salisbury, Chariton Co., MO, 1839. He sold CRESS FIELD, the family burial ground, in Northumberland Co. before moving to MO. He last resided at Salisbury, Chariton Co., MO, where he died intestate.
