CHERRYSTONE CREEK--On 1 Aug 1685, Hancock and his wife Mary were given a 700-acre tract of land on CHERRYSTONE CREEK in Hunger's Parish in Northampton Co., VA by Mary's father, Colonel William Kendall, Sr. of NEWPORT HOUSE in Northampton Co., VA. Mary was buried in the family cemetery at DITCHLEY next to her husband and shares a large horizontal tombstone with him and his last wife, Sarah Allerton.
