Fountain was the son of Walter and Anna (Detweiler) Hawkins. He was raised by relatives after the death of his father, and instutionalization of his mother. He was born in 1892. He was killed in 1953 in an accident. A drunk driver ran into his vehicle.
Fountain and Racheal took in their nephew, Claude W.Hawkins Jr. when he left home. They loved him and treated him as one of their own. Claude only stayed for a year, but his heart remains there still. He said his father, Claude Sr., blamed his brother, Fountain, for his son staying away. This was untrue.
