John Milton White was the son of Col. William Allen White. He was on the Confederate Army, Petersburg Defences, in 1865. There is a letter he wrote to his wife that tells of some of his experiences. He is also the grandfather of Mary Denham Ackerly, coauthor of "My Kin".
