He served in the U.S. Army prior to World War I and was sent to the Mexician border to put down the Villa revolution. He tried to enlist in World War I, but failed the physical.
He was the Mayor of College Park, Georgiafor two terms. He returned to Wetumpka in 1936 and was Vice President and General Manager of the Wetumpka Printing Company until his death.
