"above twenty years Town Treasurer of Weymouth, and drowned from a sloop laden with hay in the autumn of 1807" TF

"He was Town Clerk and Selectman of Weymouth for 20 years. He fought in
Shay's Rebellion as a in Capt. Thomas Vinson's Co., Col. Ezra
Badlam's Regt. from Jun 1786 to Feb 1787. (See MA Revolutionary War
Records.)

He was one-time owner of that document reported to have been written by Gideon Tirrell, his grandfather, telling where our family originated from in England, and which is now lost. Hopefully some of John's descendants will find it again." FH
