John Oliver ws born in New York, moved to Wisconsin in 1857 with his parents and one brother and one sister, where they settled on a farm in Dane County. In 1872 he married Anna McAvoy at Oregon, Wisconsin. Their first son, Harry, was born in Dane County; a second son, Willie was born in Kansas in 1878 and died 15 Feb 1879 at the age of 5 months, 7 days. He is buried in a cemetary near Oregon where we found his stone in May of 1983. Just where the family was in 1880 has not been determined. A listing has not been found in the census of that year. The third son, Lovell, was born in Dane County so the family apparently moved back to Parker, SD, along with John's parents, John and Priscilla. They lived on a farm just west of town, which farm was purchased by John and Priscilla. A fourth son, George Earl, was born to Anna in 1890 in South Clear Lake, Iowa. Anna and her three boys moved into Parker. Harry, the oldest, helped to support the family. Anna was issued a divorce in 1898. In the meantime, John Oliver moved to Clear Lake, and in 1898 married Clara Fistler of that city. John Oliver was associated with J. E. Perry in the furniture business. After marriage to Clara, John moved to North Branch, Minnisota where he died 28 December 1907. His body was taken to Clear Lake for a Masonic Burial, as he had requested. He is buried beside his parents. Anna lived the rest of her life in Parker, but did spend some time with Harry and his family at Plankington, SD. In 1826 she suffered a broken hip after which she was confined to a wheel chair. She died 4 March 1927 at a hospital in Souix Falls, and was buried in Parker on 8 March 1927. the funeral sevice was held at the home of her son, Lovell F. Collins in Parker. After John Oliver died in 1907, Clara and her four young children lived for a time in Iowa. In 1910 she married Henry Fehrs and moved to Bradley, SD where she lived until she passed away in 1939. She is buried in Bradley, as are two daughters; Rose (Collins) Forbragd, and Marion (Collins Peterson.
