Mary Kelly was a surviver of the French and Indian War from 1753 to 1761 and was left an orphan child by the cruel ravages of the war. A part of Mrs. Kelley's diary records the fact that she was an eye witness to the battle of Bunker Hill, June 17, 1775. Mrs. Kelly said of her friends that they parched corn, living on soup and made clothing out of be quilts for nine months after the war of '76 until they could raise cotton and flax.
