Spears Andrew [Male] b. ABT 1775 - d. 31 OCT 1856 Monroe County, Kentucky, USA

[wwspiers-erickson.GED]

.
This family is problematic. The reader should search for more
evidence before assuming that these children are the grandchildren of
James Simmons of Amherst,VA/Hawkins,TN. The name of Rachel's husband
was assumed from the signature witness of Andrew Spears on her
father's will. No other evidence has been found of this family until
the 1860 Monroe County, KY, census.
At the time of this census, Andrew would have been in his 70's if
he were still alive. The children have been added to the family based
upon the meager evidence of Rachel's age and that she and all the
children were born in Tennessee. Another clue to the possible
veracity of this asumption is that Rachel's older brother James G.
Simmons migrated into this country. James has shown close ties to
other family members and could well have convinced Andrew (if Andrew
had still been alive) or Rachel (if she were a widow) to move into
Monroe county.
The Ancestral File of the Church of the Latter Day Saints has a
listing showing that Andrew was the son of William Spiers and Milly
(surname not given). The record provides no other data.
