Thomas Spiers, Sr. and Lydia Sheffield Spiers
THE HUNTSVILLE FORESTER
October 10, 1902
Genuine sorrow was expressed on every hand Monday morning, when it was learned that Mr. Thos. Spiers, of Stisted Twp., formerly a resident of Huntsville, had died during Sunday. Some weeks ago Mr. Spiers was stricken with an attack of cholera from which he never rallied. The funeral took place Tuesday morning and was conducted by Reverend H. Harper, M.A. Interment took place at Madill's Cemetery.
The late Mr. Spiers had reached the age of 60 years and until recently enjoyed average health. He farmed in Muskoka for some years and for a time conducted a sawmilling business. Later he moved into Huntsville and opened up a small grocery, which was conducted largely by Mrs. Spiers and her daughter. For a time the deceased was employed with the municipality.
He was a much respected citizen; always regarded as hospitable and upright, and enjoyed a great measure of public confidence. To the bereaved wife and family the Forester joins with many others in extending heartfelt sympathy.
