OBITUARY - The death occurred Thursday, February 3, 1994, at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, of Norman Sims, husband of the late Audrey Cowan, in his 75th year.
Mr. Sims was born in Martin's Siding, September 17, 1919. His parents were Herbert and Emmaline Sims, of Skeleton Lake, and Bracebridge. He grew up in Martin's Siding and Ullswater. On June 24, 1944 he married Audrey Cowan. He joined the armed services, serving his country for five years during World War Two. He lived and worked in the Utterson area, where he was employed as a carpenter. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a former member of the Utterson West Road Hunt Club.
He is sadly missed by his children: Gail (Mrs. Grant Haight), Norma (Mrs. Wayne Hammond), Jo-Anne (Mrs. Buck Inglis), Evelyn (Mrs. Bruce Suffern) and by his grandchildren Darcy and Jodi Haight, Clayton and Kim Hammond, Jordie and Dustin Suffern, and by great-grandchildren Daryn and Madison Haight.
The funeral service was held February 5, 1994 at the Reynolds Funeral Home, with Rev. Harold McKay officiating. Pallbearers will be Peter Austin, Myron Beathune, Steve Plested, Orland Olsen, Tom Downes, Gerald Fry, Darcy Haight, Clayton Hammond and Phillip Clarke. Interment will be in the spring at Ufford Cemetery.
