DEATH OF ERNEST WINTER - 1910
(Rueben Winter had been married previous to his marriage to Hannah Spiers. From this marriage a son Ernest was born.)
The Late Ernest Winter was a son of Rueben Winter and a grandson of the late John Winter of the township of Sinclair. His mother died when he was but four years of age, and he was at that time adopted into the family of Mr. Hugh Taylor. He was always a comfort and pleasure in the home and to no one outside the immediate family circle, has his death come with greater shock than to Mr. and Mrs. Taylor. On October 15th 1902, he was married to Miss Helen Coldwell, daughter of Mr. J. B. Coldwell. Mrs. Winter and a family of three small children surviving.
Young and Energetic Citizen of Chaffey Township Suddenly Called to his Rest
When news came to Huntsville on Saturday past that Ernest Winter of Chaffey Twp., was dead, people stood in blank amazement. To comparitively few was it known that he had been ill, so accustomed had all become to seeing him the picture of health and full of life and spirit, that news of his death was received with astonishment, and seemed unbelievable.
About ten days ago he was taken suddenly ill. While at work with Mr. John Please, and, though he would not give up and presisted with his characteristic energy, in carrying out his plans, it was soon found necessary to call medical Advice. He was found to be suffering form an attack of appendicitis, which had assumed a serious form and an operation was decided upon. Drs. Hart and Blackwell performed it on Wednesday night, but so far had the disease gotten a foothold that recovery was all but impossible. the patient lingered until Saturday at noon, when he passed peacefully away, surrounded by his wife, family and friends.
