Edward Wilmot James Kingshott
At South Muskoka Memorial Hospital on Saturday, July 10, the close of his long and worthy life came for Edward Wilmot James Kingshott, of Bent River, at the age of 94 years. Mr. Kingshott was born at Bent River, the son of John and Jane (Creasor) Kingshott, on October 21, 1898. He attended school at Bent River. He had been a farmer and labourer, for 14 years was caretaker at Rostrevor Summer Resort at Windermere, during World War II worked at Nobel for the CIL ammunition department, and then had been a road commissioner for the Township of Watt.
Mr. Kingshott married Harriett Emerson and their children were Verna, Sidney and Ernest Kingshott. After the death of his first wife, Mr. Kingshott married Viola Pearl Huggard at Huntsville in 1932, and their children are Delbert, Reta, Maurice, Eleanor, Edwin, Albert, Catherine, Terrence, Brenda and Annetta. He also leaves 39 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Mina Murphy, of Foot's Bay; Ella Eaton of Michigan; and May Eaton of Windermere.
The funeral service yesterday morning, Tuesday, July 13, at the chapel of the Reynolds Funeral Home, was conducted by the Rev. Canon A.V. "Terry" Bennet of St. Thomas' Anglican church, Bracebridge, and was followed by interment at the Ullswater Cemetery. Pall-bearers were Ted Kingshott, Jack Penley, Tim Kingshott, Steven Kingshott, Randy Kingshott and Arthur Kingshott.
