OBITUARY - Harold C. Calkins, 67, died suddenly Tuesday, December 19, 1989 in a local hospital. He was a resident of El Paso for the past 20 years. He was born in Highwood, Michigan, in 1922. He served as an Air Force pilot during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, retiring after 28 years of service. He later retired from New Mexico State Physical Science Laboratory. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association, Military Order of the World Wars, and The Flying Tigers of the 14th Air Force Association. He served as Treasurer of the El Paso Genealogical Society. He was loved and respected by all whose lives he touched and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille Faske Calkins; two sons: Dr. Steven and Jayme of Houston, Michael of Alamogordo, New Mexico; Mother: Mildred B. Calkins of Bradenton, Florida; two brothers: Donald A. of Bradenton, Thomas R. of Stanford, Connecticut; two sisters: Mrs. Robert (Jean) Moore of Los Gatos, California and Mrs. William (Jane) Nahikian of Allegan, Michigan; two grandchildren: Brian and Nicole. Private services pending with burial in Allegan, Michigan.
