I found your note online on the above. I wonder if you are related to the Strahans. Mary Ann Strahan Story is my ggrandmother.
William Riley Story is my ggrandfather through his son:

Robert Luther Story, b. Mar 13, 1884, Conroe, Texas;
m. Lena May Garnett July 20, 1909, Montague County, Texas,
d. Feb 13, 1955, Brownwood, Brown County, Texas.

I am having a difficult time tracing him. I am hoping you may have some information that may put me on the right track.

His children, including Robert Luther Story, said WR Story told them he was born in Il.. I've had no success in finding him.

Family oral tradition holds that WR Story and Mary Ann Strahan separated in the early 1890s. WR left Mary and his daughters, took his three oldest sons, Samuel, William Riley, Jr., and Robert with him and moved to Bowie, Montague County, Texas.

When Samuel was about 18 yrs of age he became ill and returned to Hardin or Liberty County, Texas to his mother, who had subsequently married Joseph Vanya, Mary Ann's late sister Martha's widower. Samuel died of malaria when he was 18.

William Riley Story visited in Oklahoma with his son, W R, Jr.'s family in the second decade of the 20th century. I do not have the date. It is said R died in Caddo, Ok. but I've had no success verifying that in either the city or the county of Caddo.

Are you related through the Strahan family? My grandfather often said his grandmother was of American Indian descent. Any thoughts on any of this? If I have information on the family that you'd want, I will be happy to send it. I have additional information of Robert Luther Story's children. I'd appreciate any ideas or additional anecdotal information you may have.

Thanks for the information you've posted online.

Anne
