In the 1850 Census, Hancock County, Ms., Hezekiah and Caroline were living next door to his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth. Their first child is enumerated with them as Nancy, age. 2. They were still in Hancock County in 1870, but by 1880 had moved across the Pearl River to Washington Parish, La..
On December 5, 1886 in Pearl River County, Ms., a deed was recorded in which Nancy Moley Martin, Frances Elizabeth Bowers, and Sarah Emeline Wallace signed over their interest in their father's land to their brothers, Joseph J., John J. and William G. Wheat. This would indicate both parents were deceased.
In 1996, after the death of Mrs. Rena (Megehee) Wheat, found among her personal papers was an envelope with a postmark of Feb 13, 1965. Inside were bits of Wheat family information and a note stating that Hezekiah Wheat was buried south of Bogalusa (La.) on the James Robert Lesley place.
