2: Mathurin Marie Hode, Jr. was baptized at OLG (BB 1 p 28 Act 195). The record states he was born 23 Jan 1853, legitimate son of Mathurin Hode and Clarisse Garcia, baptized by S. Buteux, priest on 21 Jul 1853. Godfather was Joseph Garcia and godmother was Georgina Ladner. He married Olivia Malley 6 Jun 1875, the daughter of John Malley and Marie Cuevas. He was a farmer in the 1880 census but was listed as a teamster in 1900. He died 21 Mar 1927 but I do not know where they are buried.
Louise Francine Philomene Hode was born 15 Jul 1869. Her baptism record of 30 Nov 1869 (OLG BB 1 p 171 Act 1102) states she was the legitimate daughter of Mathurin Hode and Clarisse Garcia. The officiating priest was H. Leduc and godparents were Francis Pitot and Louise Monte. She married Leon Ladner on 4 Aug 1886, the son of Edmund and Estelle Ladner. He was born 14 Jun 1865 and died 13 Mar 1925. She died in 1934. I have not located their burial place but ANNC deaths state he was buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery at Rotten Bayou.
He was a resident of rural Pass Christian, Ms. and retired from the Gaylord Paper County He was a member of the Infant Jesus of Prague Church.

Kevin, I called the George County Library and they put me in touch with a Mr. Trussell who, as the librarian said, "knows everything". He verified for sure the Mallette Cemetery where our Jean Mallette is buried. The cemetery is out in the woods, all grown up around it, and hard to find, but he is sending me websites that shows the cemetery with info. He has our Jean born in 1792 and died in 1895 - the same that we have, and he also has Louisa Necaise as his wife, same as us. He has the info where Louisa sold their homestead to a Fletcher Read.
I am SO EXCITED to finally know where he is buried. Mr. Trussell said there are only 5 graves in this family cemetery and there is no headstone for Jean Mallette, but county records show he is buried there. The cemetery is just out of Lucedale on highway 613, he told me. He also will send me Barbara Mallet Eley's phone number as she knows much of our family history.
Isn't this great?? Here is the cemetery web address
