A Tribute to Herbert J. Knierim

Herb, originally from Long Island, New York, went Home Sunday morning leaving the loving arm s of his wife Jean to join his Heavenly Father. Herb had battled cancer for a year and whil e cancer claimed his earthly body a new one awaited him. (Perhaps this one will be able to b reak Par)

Herb came to California to finish his education at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Originally a p oultry major , he graduated as an Agricultural Engineer. Through extra study at home he beca me licensed as a Civil Engineer. Many years later California began registering Agricultura l Engineers and Herb was grandfathered in with the certificate number #163.

Herb and Jean met at Cal Poly. God welded an east coast German to a west coast California g irl with super glue in a marriage that held for 38 years. They had one daughter, Laurie Ame s who is following in her fathers footsteps at the University of Idaho doing her masterus wor k in hydrology. He was so very proud of this choice.

Oldest granddaughter, Morgan Wardwell of Reedley kept him amused with her teenage chatter an d updates on her high school band activities.

Youngest granddaughter, Meghan Wardwellus phone calls from Idaho were highlights of his weeks . They enjoyed movies, golf, and snuggletime together when sheud rub his fuzzy head.

A Civil Engineer for all of his professional life he enjoyed "relaxing" on the golf course, b eating that little white ball. He was proud of his golf trophies, but lacked a hole in one . Herb won many prizes for his nature photography .

His personal relationship with Jesus Christ guided him in everything he did and was his comfo rt and support through this last difficult year. He never doubted that his life was in Godu s hand and God was in complete control of all things.
