The following was found in a book that had some wills, land grants and bio's in it .
It reads as follows: BILLIEBO (BILBO) Jacque Billiebo (Bilbo, Bilboa, Bilbaud). born in Saintonge, France, came on "ye first shippe" in 1700 and settled with the refugee Huguenot emigrants at Manakintowne. In 1711, he was listed as one of the tithables in King William Parish, and in the original French records, is found, in 1714, Jacques Bilbaud, wife and one son.
The son, Jean Pierre Billiebo (Bilbo) was listed as a tithable of King William Parish, in 1723 though of the household of Pierre Dutoy, his parents having died; in 1731 he and his wife, Susane, were listed as tithables, and were so listed each year thereafter, till 1750. In 1722 he owned 162 acres of land in King Wm. Parish in 1731 he was appointed processioner for lands in King Wm. Parish; on March 15, 1734, he took the oath as Vestryman and on Oct. 30, 1742, the oath of Church Warden of King Wm. Parish.
Jean Pierre Billiebo and wife, Susane, had issue:
Jacque, born June 30, 1730
Marie, born June 23, 1733
Jean, born Oct 26, 1735
Elizabeth, born Feb 13, 1738 and died March 20, 1738
Elizabeth born Dec 5, 1740
John (Jean) Bilboa, born Oct 26 1735 married Ann Walker, June 16, 1760 and had Susannah born April 29, 1764 and John born Oct 7 1766.
Mary (Marie) Bilboa (daughter of Jean Pierre and Ann Walker), born June 23, 1733 married Feb 3, 1756, Young Short.
Their son, Reuben Short (1796-1877) who married in 1821, Judith Thomas (1803-1902).
Their daughter, Judith Ann Short (1834-1899), married in 1852, Richard Johnson Wood (1828-1917), and they were the parents of Amos DeRussia Wood, M.D., Virginia Society.
Also in another book, which I didn't get the title of ) it is written:
BILBO- contributed by Mrs. a. Rhea Anderson pg 81/82
The name is spelled several different ways, Billiabo, Bilbaud, and Bilbo.
Jacques Billiabo (anglicized Bilbo) with his wife and one son is listed in R. A. Brock's "Virginia Historical Collection", vol. 5, pg 13, of the Huguenot emigration to Va. In 1714 we note Jacques Bilbo with wife and one son.
Also in the ship list for Manakin Huguenots is Jacques Billiabo.
This is no doubt the father of Jean Pierre Bilbo.
The first son of Jean Pierre Bilbo and his wife Susanne was named Jacques and is of record in Brock's collection (pg 84) as of June 2 1730, as follows: " June 30, 1730, was born Jacques Billiabo, son of Jean Billiabo and wife Susanne," and on another page this is given as Bilbo.
From Baird's records, Vol. 2, pg 16, we note Jean Bilbo fled from Port des Barques in 1681 to England. Jacques Bilbaud, one of the inhabitants of Manakintown in 1700-1723, was doubtless of this family.
Jean Billiabeau settled in the northern part of New Jersey.
In the "Va Historical Mag., Vol; 2, pg 195, a reference states that Jacques Billiabeau came from Santonge, France, to manakintowne.
In a list of tithables from King Wm. Parish we note this same man.
Then in 1730 we find Jean Pierre Bilbo paying tithables in King Wm. Parish. From this information we gather that Jacques Bilbo with his wife and son emigrated to Manakin and were the parents of Jean Bilbo who owned 162 acres of land in King Wm. Parish.
In 1723 he is listed in the tithables, but was one of the household of Pierre Dutoi, who gave in five tithables, one of whom was jean Pierre Bilbo.
Jean Pierre Bilbo and wife Susanne had the following children:
Jacques born June 30, 1730 and baptized in the Episcopal church Aug, 16, 1730.
Marie born June 23, 1733.
Elizabeth born Nov. 13, 1739 and died Mar. 20, 1740,
Elizabeth born December 30, 1740 (named for the deceased daughter).
On March 15, 1734, Jean took the oath as a vestryman of King Wm. Parish.
In Oct. 1742, Jean Bilbo took the oath of a church warden of King Wm. Parish, the highest elective and governing body in the local Episcopal Church.
Marie Bilbo married Young Shortt.
She was born at Manakintowne June 23, 1733 and was baptized Dec 23, 1733.

Jean, another child of Jean Pierre Bilbo and wife Susanne, was born Oct 26, 1735 and married Ann Walker Jun 16, 1760.
They had:
Susannah, born April 29, 1764.
John born Oct 7, 1766,
Marie Bilbo, daughter of Jean and Susanne, was born Jun 23, 1733; married Feb 3, 1756 Youn Shortt.
Their son Reuben (born 1769, died 1852) Married Lydia Clark (1767-1842) and had a son John Shortt (born 1796, died 1877) who married in 1821 Judith Thomas (born 1803, died 1902).
Judith Ann Shortt, daughter of John Shortt and Judith Thomas, was born 1834, died 1899, married 1852 Richard Johnson Wood (born 1828, died 1917).
they had: Amos De Russia Wood (M.D.) Calvin Reuben Shortt, son of Reuben Shortt and Lydia Clark, married Sarah Jeany, a dau. of James Jeany, and had children as follows: Columbus, died in infancy, Benjamin, who married Lizzie Gillespie, Americus De Lafayette, who married Dorcas Eleanor Hayter.
