Hello Warren,
I appreciate the material you sent me yesterday. I spent some time looking through all of my old sources and discovered that Louisa and Lizer are actually two different people. Lizer was married to James Penton in 1875. (Lizer appears to be short for Eliza) Louisa was married first to Charles Wesley Penton in 1870. He died in 1889. Louisa then married her brother in-law (Charles' brother) Emanuel Jordan Penton in 1898. James Penton would actually be a nephew of Charles and Emanuel. My records also show Lizer (a.k.a. Louisa Elisa) as being born September of 1856, Not 1850.
As I looked closer at the information that I have, I believe that Louisa is either the daughter of John (a.ka. John Thomas Jefferson Burge) who lived next door to his father G.W. Burge and only four properties away from the Penton clan, or another possibility is a William Burge who was living with G.W. Burge during the 1850 census and is listed as being 19 years old. (Could have married and had a child the following year). The possibility of her being a daughter of John seems high in my opinion in that she having been born in 1851 would fit nicely into John's family wherein he seems to be having a child every other year according to the 1850 census.
A few questions..
Do you know where John (or Thomas as he was listed in 1850 census) is at the time of the 1870 census?
I was intrigued by the connection to Pocohantas. Could you trace that line from Lewlling Williams to her for me?
The Moss line you probably have is the southern Moss's. Mine come from a different line that came from England and went to Utah in the mid 1800's.
I will try to attach a gedcom file of the Penton/Burge lines that I have.
Thanks again and any info you might have that can help me find Louisa's parents would be greatly appreciated.
Dennis
