Obituary from THE TYLERTOWN TIMES, Thursday, March 17, 1983.
J. C. Dunaway
Funeral services for J. C. Dunaway, 58, were held March 15 at Silver Creek Baptist Church with Revs. Harold Gartman and Charles Williams officiating. He died March 14 at Walthall County General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Dunaway was born August 20, 1924 in Pike County, son of Pearlie and Mary Lee Dunaway. He was a heavy equipment operator and a deacon at Silver Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dora Redmond Dunaway, McComb; two sons, Mike Dunaway, Raymond, Gary Dunaway, Baton Rouge; four sisters, Mrs. Bessie Smith, Columbia, Mrs. Essie Smith, Mrs. Frances Fortenberry, Mrs. Juanita Herring, all of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Frankie McDonna, Wallace McKenzie, Robert Brumfield, Pete Smith, Wayne Myers, George Reeves, Jack Lynn and Jesse Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Silver Creek church, Pike County District 1 road crewmen, and Mead Brumfield and Willis Simmons.
Burial was in the church cemetery with Hartman Hughes in charge of arrangements.
