John H. 'Jim' Brown
John Henry "Jim" Brown, 68, of Terry's Creek, died June 26, 2001, at his residence.
Services were 10:30 a.m. today at Terry's Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Kent Newell officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Hartman Funeral Home of McComb was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brown was born Feb. 8, 1933, in Walthall County. He was the son of Claiborn Brown and Lizzie Johnson Morris.
He was a retired die-cut technician with MacMillan Bloedel Containers, and a longtime member of Terry's Creek Baptist Church. He was a board member of the Osyka Volunteer Fire Department.
His family said he loved and cared for them and was a friend to everyone. He also loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charlie Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Brown of Terry's Creek; a daughter, Barbara Brown Coghlan of McComb; two brothers, Bill Mitchell of Brookhaven and Arbie Mitchell of Kentwood, La.; two sisters, Gladys Holiday of Franklinton, La., and Dianne Strahan of Bogalusa, La.; and two grandchildren, Priscilla "Prissy" Coghlan Dickerson and Natasha Coghlan.
Pallbearers were Richard Coghlan, Charles Wilson, Tom Gunther, Bobby Easley, Joe DeBlanc, Shelby Prestridge, Wendell Williams and Abe Reeves.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Horizon Hospice, 802 Delaware Ave., McComb, Ms. 39648.
