Epitaph:
In the palm of his hand
John Freeman was a Negro who took care of the Spiers children in Adabelle, Georgia. He washed the feet of the kids at night. He made a swing that spun around called a "Flying Ginny". He cut wood and built fires. Told ghost stories to make the kids behave. Story about a dragon with fire out of his nose.
C.K. and Jim took a box load of chicks (bitties) into Register from Adabelle in the wagon and when they got to Register all the chicks got out in the middle of the town and they had to chase them down.
Brick bats were put into the buggy to keep their feet warm when hauling wood.
When the Spiers children lived in Adabelle, Georgia they picked up ice in Register, Georgia and hauled it home on a wagon with ice buried in straw to keep it from melting.
The children shucked and shelled corn for chicken feed.
