In the 1880 Pearl River County, Ms. census Samuel was listed as a 26 yr old farmer living with wife Elizabeth age 22 and son George age 3.
In the 1900 census Samuel was listed as a 47 yr old farmer living in beat 5 with wife Cora Lenoir age 43 married 22 yrs, having 5 children with 4 living. All children were at home at the time. Sam's 75 yr old mother Sarah was staying with him at the time.
In the 1910 census Sam was listed as a 57 yr old farmer, working out, living in beat 5 with wife Cora age 53 and their 2 boys Bosseta age 24 and Wiley age 19, both listed as charcol burners.
In the 1920 census Sam was listed as a 66 yr old farmer livingg in beat 4 with his wife Cora age 63. He was living near his son Randol.
In all court documents, pension records, land grants only the name
FREEMAN JONES is used and no reference is ever made to him having the
name THOMAS Freeman Jones. Thomas is not a name used in the Jones line.
From the Mississippi Revolutionary Soldiers (DAR National Number 114040):
"Service: He volunteered 1779 in the 10th N.C. Regt. and served under General McDowell and Colonel Andrew Hampton. He was in the battle of Eutaw Springs and at King's Mt. After the war he lived in Knoxville, Tenn., Bowling Green, Ky., Madison, St. Clair and Pickens Counties, Alabama. His widow lived for a time in Hancock County, Miss., but finally settles in Newton County"
Wife: Christian Pearis (misspelled Paris/Parris/Parrish)
Christian is buried in the Johnson Family Cemetery in Decatur, Newton County, Mississippi along with her oldest son ( Richard Jones), Richard's wife( Rachel Johnson), her daughter (Annie Lovy Jones), and Annie's husband (Henry H. Johnson). Exact location of grave in the cemetery is unknown.
On a large memorial marker at the cemetery is written:
Freeman Jones Sr. widow Christina Paris Jones came to Newton County Ms. to live
after he died in Pickens County 8-26-1835. She died in 1850 in Newton County Ms.
Christian is believed to be the daughter of George Pearis (#2) of Tryon County, North Carolina
who had a sister named Christian. The Pearis family were Presbyterians immigrating from County Tyrone, Ireland to Pennsylvania to eventually settle in Winchester, Virginia. Her brother Capt. George Pearis (#3) of Pearisburg, Va. was also a hero of the Revolutionary War battle of Shallow Ford. George Pearis (#2) had two brothers Captains Richard & Robert Pearis who served in the
French & Indian Wars and are mentioned in the writings of George Washington, but side with the British in the Revolutionary War.
In the 1910 PRC census Arvel was listed as a 27 year old sawyer working in a sawmill, living in beat 5 on the Carriere to Ceasar Road with wife Alunia age 30, her second marriage, being married 3 yrs, having 2 children with none living.
In the 1910 census, Leonard was listed as a 23 yr old laborer at odd jobs, living in beat 2 with wife age 19, married 3 yrs having three children with only two living, twin sons age 8 months.

In the 1900 Marion Co census, William was listed as a 22yr old living with wife Roseana age 20 and 2 yr old son Thomas. William was working in a sawmill, probably with his father in law Freeman Odom. In the 1910 census, Pearl River County, Ms. William was listed as being 35 yrs old, doing odd jobs, living in beat 5 on the Carriere Road with his wife age 34, married 12 yrs, having 6 childrenwith 5 living, all of which were living at home. In the 1920 census of PRC William was listed as a 43 yr old farmer living in beat 5 near Lumpkins crossroads with wife age 38 and their 7 children.
In the 1920 census of Pearl River County, Ms. He was listed as a 21 yr old piling laborer living in beat 5 with wife Emma age 24 and their daugther Elva age 3 months.
