Homer Quick was killed in Hattiesburg, Ms. as an innocent bystander when a ruckus broke out between the cops and some bar patrons. Homer, his wife, and daughter had gone grocery shopping and he was walking back to the store to get some eggs for banana pudding.

1880 Hancock County census, Freeman was listedas a 22yr old farmer living in beat 2 with wife Mary age 20 and their 2 yr old daughter Roseana. In the 1900 census of Marion county, Ms. Freeman was listed as a 41 yr old sawmill worker, living with wife Mary age 39, having 6 children with 4 living including son Arvel age 18 a sawmill worker and Leonard age 16, farm worker. In the 1910 PRC census, Freeman was listed as 52 yrs old living in beat 5 on the Ceasar to Carriere Road with wife Mary age 50, married 30 years, having 6 children with only 4 living. Freeman and Mary were living alone.
