Early 1800's: Moved from South Carolina to Black Creek, south Perry County, Ms.
At that time, 'Beccy' was not walking yet, and Mary's parents had just given them a slave that served as a nurse and lived almost 50 more years.
Mary's parents were by no means wealthy, but had a few slaves which, under the good treatment accorded to them, were more of a liability than an asset. One old house servant, Mary, was given to her for her trip to Ms. She, too, is buried with both of them.
