The 33rd Regiment Mississippi Infantry was known for a short time after being organized as Hurst's Regiment Mississippi Infantry.
About April 9, 1865, this regiment was consolidated with the 1st and 22nd Regiments and the 1st Battalion Mississippi Infantry, and formed a new regiment which was designated the 22nd Regiment Mississippi Infantry.
Pvt. Ephraim Rushing, Company H, 33rd Regiment Mississippi Infantry
enlisted January 9, 1863 at Brookhaven, Miss. by Major Clark for period of War.
(He was born in 1837, died 1900, son of Malachi Rushing who was the son of Matthew Rushing. Ephraim was 26 years old when he enlisted.)
