VAN C. CAGLE
Funeral services for Van C. Cagle, 48, of 201 28th Avenue, Hattiesburg, Ms., who was found dead in his car near Seminary Friday morning, Sep 11, 1942, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13 at the chapel of the Hattiesburg Undertaking Company. Mr. Cagle's death was attributed to normal causes, apparently a heart attack.
Dr. T.D. Brown, pastor of the first Baptist church and the Rev. A.C. Parker, pastor of the Petal Baptist church, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Highland Park cemetery. Members of Lacey Kelly Post No. 3036, Veterans of Foreign Wars, of which Mr. Cagle had been commander since April, will conduct military services at the grave.
District safety supervisor for the WPA at the time of his death, Mr. Cagle had served in the Navy for seven years during and after the first World War.
He was born in Lamar County Feb. 19, 1894, and graduated with a B.S. degree from Mississippi Normal College, now Mississippi Southern. He was connected with the college for 14 years as engineer. On July 14, 1921, he married Miss Rowena Owings at Avery.
He taught at the Petal high school during the 1931-1932 session. From 1934 through 1936, Mr. Cagle attended the University of Mississippi at Oxford, and while there was also the school's maintenance engineer.
Mr. Cagle was a member of the First Baptist Church and a 32nd degree Mason.
He is survived by his wife; four sisters, Mrs. A.E. Rushing, Foxworth; Mrs. Zell Broome, Sumrall; Mrs. J.P. Aultman, Sumrall; and two brothers, O.I. Cagle, Hattiesburg; and J.L. Cagle, West Point; and 16 nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Barraca Sunday School class of the First Baptist Church of which Mr. Cagle was a member.

Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Hulett-Winstead chapel for Mrs. S.E.L. Weatherford Sr., 80, who died Thursday afternoon at Forrest General Hospital.
The Rev. Farrell Blankenship and the Rev. Robert R. Slack will officiate with burial in Roseland Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Weatherford was preceeded in death by her husband in late 1975.
A native of Sumrall, Mrs. Weatherford, was Lela Cagle before her marriage in 1926. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi. She was a retired teacher, having taught for more than 30 years, most of them in first grade at Petal Elementary School.
Until declining health curtailed her activities, she was active in her church, teaching in children's Sunday school departments and vacation Bible schools for many years. At the time of her death she was a member of First Baptist Church, the Euzelian Sunday School Class and the Homebound Department, the Golden Age Club, and the Wide Awake Club.
She is survived by four children: Dr. Sidney Weatherford of Hattiesburg, Leland C. Weatherford of Clearwater, Fla.; Mrs. Robert R. Slack of Decatur, Ala., and Mrs. Dewey R. McKenzie of La Grange, Ga. She also is survived by one sister, Mrs. Emma Aultman of Sumrall, 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
Family members have asked that those wanting to make donations should contribute to the television ministry fund of the First Baptist Church, Hattiesburg.

Services were to be at 2 p.m. today at Rock Hill Baptist Church for Mrs. Alma C. Broome, 68, of Rt. 2, Sumrall, who died Tuesday at her home.
Rev. D.L. Allums and Rev. C.P. Toney were to officiate with burial in Rock Hill Cemetery. Hulett Funeral Home was in charge.
Mrs. Broome was life-long resident of Lamar County and a member of Rock Hill Church.
Survivors are her husband, Zell Broome; a son, Bobby of Pascagoula; a grandchild, two sisters, Mrs. S.E.L. Weatherford, of Hattiesburg and Mrs. Emma Aultman of Sumrall.
