According to birth record inMcDowell Co, WV the child was named Audie Lee Beeman, with info supplied by James Beeman, parent. Apparently, at some point the child began going by the name Oddie Stephen, perhaps due to family circumstances he was unsure of his given name.

Married Kathleen while serving in the Army (and later in the Air Force) during WWII and stationed in Britain.
