Moses Strahan was born in North Carolina and was taking land in Georgia in 1793. (Ref: Screven County Clerk's office, book A, page 319, 28th. July 1793) Moses was a veteran of the American Revolutionary War, serving from Hanover County, North Carolina. (Ref: North Carolina Dept. of Archives and History, Rev. Army Accounts - Vol. VI, page 57, Folio I) Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution has been established on Cassie's father-in-law's service by Eva Stewart Blackwell (Mrs. Morris Glen Blackwell), whose National Number is 623467. Mrs. Blackwell is a descendant of Moses, Jr.'s brother Corneilus-Neil-Neal Strahan. Page 195, Vol. XVIII, The Territory of Alabama 1817-1819 of The Territorial Papers of the United States compiled and edited by Clarence Edwin Carter, lists Moses Strahan as the 100th person signing a petition regarding the boundary line between the State of Mississippi and Alabama Territory.

MOSES & RACHEL STRAHAN---PIONEERS
Moses Strahan married Rachel Howard in North Carolina and they had four children: Moses Jr; Asa; Cornelius; Elijah. Some of these children were probably born in Effingham County in Georgia
In Chatom, Washington County, Alabama Court Rouse, this record is in deed book A -("7th August 1802 - Thelton Sandifer sells Moses Strahan one Negro woman name of Burley, said to be about 13 years of age ")
From 1802 to 1817, the Moses Strahan family was living in the Alabama Territory around the Tombigbee, Mobile River area
From passports issued by the Governor of Georgia to travelers thru the Indian Nation: ("Saturday, 4th of January 1812. Ordered that passes be given John Strahan with his wife and four children and six Negroes from the County of Effingham in this state.")
This John Strahan was Moses' brother. John claimed a choice section of land on the east side of Pearl River in 1812, and managed to hold another section for Moses. Their land joined, and the county line between Hancock and Marion ran between them.
Moses and his family did not move onto this land until 1818 Traveling with him was his four sons, Moses Jr, and Asa, who were married and had children at that time. Cornelius was married but had no children, and Elijah was not married.
Moses and his sons took claims on the land in 1818, paying the state of Mississippi S1.35 per acre.
Sometime between 1820-1830, Moses, Moses Jr, Asa and Elijah moved their families to Copiah County, southeast of Mississippi
Cornelius and his wife Nancy remained in Hancock County and received one half of the 640 acres of land Moses had there, and Hasting Howard, a brother of Moses' wife Rachel, received the other half.
By 1833, Moses Jr and his wife were deceased and their children scattered. Some of their descendants are now living in North Central Mississippi.
I presently have no other information to indicate what became of Asa, Elijah or Moses Sr. and his wife Rachel
John Strahan died in 1849 and his widow remarried.
