Lonaconing, Md, Nov. 27 - The body of Alexander Speir, 65, who died Thursday at 1720 Bird street, Baltimore, where he was boarding, was brought to his home here on Railroad street today. Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Jean, Alice and Hugh, all of Lonaconing; sister, Mrs. Frank Winn, St. Louis, Missouri; and brother J. W. Speir, Lonaconing. Lonaconing, Nov. 30 - Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon for Alexander Speir, Railroad Street, with the Rev. Thomas R. Dixon, Jr., pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiating. Pall bearers were Howard Erode, John Alexander, Edward Winters, John Mason, Elaine McKenzie, James Johnson, Clarence Castle, Thomas Walters, and William H. Spiker, Jr. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery. Among those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pitman, and son Lloyd, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Marshall McCorkle, Belaire, Ohio; John and Thomas Scollick, Erie, Pa.; James Scollick, Bridgeville, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Bell and children Helen and William; James Speir and Miss Jane Speir, Baltimore; David Scollick, Cumberland; Francis Humes, Westernport; Hugh Speir, Mr. and Mrs. William Spates, Mrs. John Stewart, and Mrs. Mabel Speir Stevens,_ Frostburg; and Mrs. Alice Russell, of Barton. Mr. Speir, son of Hugh and Jane Speir, was born in 1877 on Railroad Street. He worked in the Detmold and Darrows coal mines until the past nine weeks when he has been employed by the Bethlehem Steel Key Highway Division, Baltimore. He died suddenly on Thanksgiving Day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Bell, of Baltimore. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Agnes Scollick Speir, and three children, Jean, Alice and Hugh Speir.
