Mrs. Jane Speir Dead at her Home in Lonaconing
Another old resident of Lonaconing has passed beyond the veil. Grandma Spier died yesterday at one o'clock a.m. at the
residence of her daughter, Mrs. Minnie Connor, on Douglas Avenue. Mrs. Jane Spier was the widow of Hugh Spier, and was
born in Kilmarnock, Scotland, seventy-four years ago. She is survived by seven children: Andrew and Alexander, of
Lonaconing; Mrs. Minnie Connors, of Lonaconing: Hugh, of Frostburg, and Mrs. Thomas Winn, of Cumberland. Mrs. Spier
came to this country in 1856, and lived the greater part of her life in Lonaconing. She was ill about four months.
The funeral of Mrs. Jane Spier will take place from the Presbyterian Church, Sunday, at 3 o'clock. The Evening Times, Friday, April 9, 1909
