Norma Wilhelmina (Miller) Decker, born 10/11/12 in St. Louis. Died in St. Louis on 6/19/93 in Marie De Villa retirement home. Suffered from Alzheimer’s disease last 5 years of her life. Buried at St. Lucas Cemetery, Sappington, MO (Lot 6, Plot B). Attended Shenandoah Grade School and Buder. Graduated Cleveland High School. Awarded College scholarship from Buder & Buder law firm which was withdrawn because of Depression. Instead went to work for law firm as secretary until marriage. Married Harry William Decker 11/22/35 at St. Lucas Church on Tennessee, St. Louis. First lived in apt. on Dunica. Harry took job with Shell Oil in Wood River, Illinois and was then transferred to Chattanooga, TN. Returned to St Louis. Harry worked as supervisor for Apple Construction and they purchased first home 5735 Goethe. During WWII they rented home and moved to Kansas City. After War, returned to home on Goethe and live there until 1956 when they moved to South St. Louis County 9352 Ewers Drive.

Norma played the piano and composed one song-it was a cheerful march. Never written down. With deep roots in the ‘scrubby Dutch’ tradition of St. Louis, Norma was a very particular homemaker. She was not a person to express individuality preferring to stay within norms of her social group. She had a strange sense of right and wrong. She played and enjoyed bridge and had an extraordinary sense of the cards. She disliked being involved in disagreement. She simply suppressed any anger she might ;;have felt. Norma truly loved Harry. Once when he broke his leg, he gained 10 lbs. and she lost 10 lbs. Norma suffered from high blood pressure and ultimately from Alzheimer’s Disease. Because of this disease she spent the last year of her life in a nursing home-Mari de Villa in Clayton, MO.

Norma had one daughter (Dorothy Norma). She was a supportive and involved Mother. Yearly birthday parties, day long school picnics at the Highlands, organizing fish fries and after meeting food for Jobes Daughters. She would have like spending more time with her grandchildren Pamela and Jeffrey Hentschel but she cherished vacations and Christmas with them.

On 8/29/98, Roy Osterkamp said that the newspaper clipping referring to the party the Osterkamps held for Norma at the Hillcrest Country Club was not for her impending marriage to Harry as Dottie suspected but rather a "coming out" party when she was about 19. Roy had taken a very attractive date to the party and remembered it well. Lucille got a big kick out of kidding Roy about this girl after being married to Roy 61 years and learning of this event.
