IN MEMORY OF MRS. KUMMER

Mrs. Susan Kummer was born in Germany, March 16, 1828, and departed this life March 6th, 1912, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Heinlein of near Tigris. In ten more days she would have been 84 yrs. old. She was the mother of eight children, four are living and four died while young. Three daughters, Mrs. George Heinlein, Mrs. Wm Heinlein and Mrs. J.E. Swegart live near Tigris, and the son, Mr. Sam Kummer lives in Ohio. Her husband John Kummer died March 28, 1893, and for several years past, Grandma has been making her home with her youngest daughter, Mrs. George Heinlein, and it was there that she spent her last days. Grandma had been sick for two or three weeks suffering from what seemed to be rheumatism. All that loving hands could do for her to give her relief was done by those who loved her, but her work on earth was done and God said come, and Grandma was prepared to go and went to the home where suffering never comes to reap the reward for having lived faithful to her Saviour and doing his blessed will for so many years past. All who knew Grandma Kummer loved her, and she will be sadly missed by those she has been near so long. Our loss is Grandma's eternal gain, and although we cannot call her back to us, we can live in such a manner as to be able to go and join her in that peaceful home of rest. On Friday afternoon, March 8, 1912, at the home of George Heinlein, in the presence of her three daughters and several grandchildren and had her three great grandchildren, funeral service for Grandma was conducted by Elder Benjamin Pearson, who spoke many kind sypathizing words to the sorrowing relatives and friends who had met to pay their last respect and bid their last goodby to Grandma Kummer. Afterwards her body was laid to rest in the Ellison Cemetery to await the resurrection morning.
