Anna R. Cook, on Sept. 20, 2006, passed away at Vantage House in Columbia. Mrs. Cook was born in Franklin, W.Va., on July 17, 1910. She was 96 years old. Mrs. Cook was a longtime resident of Frostburg, Md., She was an officer in both the Federation of Republican Women of Maryland and the Frostburg Womens Republican Club. She was preceded in death in 2001 by her husband, Noel Speir Cook as well as eight brothers and sisters. He was an attorney in Cumberland and a member of the Maryland Legislature from 1948 to 1972. She was an avid golfer and a charter member of the Maplehurst Country Club. Following her husband's retirement, Senator and Mrs. Cook lived in Sun City, Ariz., and at Heritage Harbor near Annapolis. She was also a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Annapolis as well as St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Frostburg. She was a registered nurse and graduate of the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Cumberland. She leaves behind may loving nieces and nephews. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at 2:45 p.m. at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, Md.
