Storer Sidna [Female]

Sydna Ann Storer, four-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney H. Storer, Jr., 717 Columbia avenue, has a life-like doll, believed to be nearly 100 years old, which she received as a Christmas gift from her great aunt, Mrs. Matilda Gaschler Silbaugh, Morgantown, W. Va. The child's mother, Mrs. Mary Dietrich Storer, said her grandmother brought it to this country 55 years ago from Turkey and that the doll has been in her family since early in the 19th century. Many offers for the doll have been received by the family, Mrs. Storer said. The doll is 32 inches high, and has a Dresden china face and head, while the body is made of flne leather, hand-stitched, with hinged arms and legs. Several years ago a new wig for the doll was made, using the blonde hair of Mrs. Storer's late mother. Mrs. Storer said her grandmother told her the doll was bought for the equivalent of one American dollar— which, was "a lot of money" 100 years ago in Turkey.
