A Norman Baron, who accompanied William the Conqueror on his expidition to England and took and important part in the Battle of Hastings, fouoght October 14, 1066. For his valor that day he was rewarded with lands in Sussex, Surrey, Norfork and Suffolk, and had conferred on him the earldom of Surrey by William.
