She went to Johns Hopkins University & became a surgical nurse. She was a
lieutenant in the Medical Corps in WWI. She functioned in the front lines &
was gassed. When the war was over they left her in Southern Greece to recover
on the Mediterranean. After 6 months, she returned to Baltimore & Johns
Hopkins Hospital & became head surgical nurse of J.H.H.. After she returned,
she met a wounded veteran, Joe Smith, & married him. She died young of kidney
trouble & is buried in the same cemetery as Noma & Spencer (Newport News).
