JOHN DUDA DIES; RITES TUESDAY
Tupper Lake, Oct. 19
John Duda, 73, A World War I Veteran who had made his home here for several
years, died at 12:50 p.m. Friday at the Veterans Administration hospital at
Sunmount.
The body was taken to the Embser funeral home at Wellsville where the funeral
will be Tuesday. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetary there.
Born in Germany, he came to America as a young man and served eight years with
the Marine Corps. A machinist, he worked at Wellsville for many years. Mr.
Duda came to Sunmount as a patient about five years age. He resided at Hotel
Windsor here when not under treatment at the V.A. hospital.
His wife, the former Mary Ellen Bertheiaume of Ware, Mass., died in 1927.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Doretta Blashke, and a son, William H. Duda,
both of Stratford, Conn., and seven grandchildren.
